A Mother's Dress, A Daughter's Dream

In the heart of every gown we create at Vanya Designs, there's a story waiting to be told.

We're sharing the journey of our Vanya Bride Caitlin, a story that not only celebrates the bond between mothers and daughters but also showcases our passion for breathing new life into cherished memories.

Caitlin came to us with a vision: to transform her mother's wedding dress into her own reception gown.

"Ever since I was little, I wanted to wear my mom's wedding dress for my wedding.” 

Caitlin found us through a Google search and, along with her friends, made the trip to our studio. From the start, it was clear that this project was as much about the emotional value of the dress as it was about the design. 

Our first meeting was all about understanding Caitlin's vision and how we could integrate the essence of her mother's dress with her personal taste.

The transformation process involved three fittings. With each session, the dress slowly evolved, blending the past with the present. Caitlin managed to keep the project a secret from her mom until the final reveal. She convinced her mom they were shopping for a reception dress at a boutique, only to surprise her with the transformed gown.   

The moment Caitlin's mom saw the dress, it was anything but ordinary. It was a mix of surprise, happiness, and a few tears—exactly the kind of reaction that reminds us why we do what we do.

Our work at Vanya Designs often touches on retro remakes. Whether it's a retro remake or a custom wedding gown, our goal is to infuse each piece with the love of past generations, ensuring that every bride feels not just seen, but deeply understood and connected to their history.
